Our Mission

Our Mission
The The UC Irvine Institute for Clinical and Translational Science’s (ICTS) mission is to move science “From Lab to Life.” We support the translation of biomedical discovery into clinical and community health applications.
Who we are
The ICTS team is composed of dedicated faculty and staff who provides a range of resources and services to UCI investigators to accelerate scientific discoveries and medical breakthroughs in the lab and translate them into life-altering health care.
Our Vision
Our vision is to provide more treatments for all people more quickly.
What We Do
We are here to facilitate research by providing expertise and services in the areas of community engagement, biostatistics, health informatics, participant recruitment, lab services and research funding. We are also nurturing our future generation of translational scientists through workforce development, education, and training.
Our Funding
The ICTS has been funded by the National Institutes of Health since 2010 through the Clinical and Translational Sciences Award (CTSA) Program, and receives further support from the UCI Office of Research, the UCI School of Medicine, and the UCI Office of the Vice Chancellor of Health Affairs. In 2024, the ICTS secured a new round of NIH funding that will extend through June of 2031.
Talking Translational: A Dialogue with Physicians and Scientists
This short video is an effective tool in initiating learning opportunities in principles and practice of Clinical Science and Translational Research (CTS&R). Our goal here is to highlight the distinction between the science of translational and translational research and initiate a dialogue across the Hub workforce.
