Effective Mentoring for PhD Students and Postdocs: Mentoring Training & Professional Development
The Effective Mentoring Workshop is a 7-week series offered by the ICTS in collaboration with the Graduate Professional Success in STEM (GPS-STEM) program. Effective mentoring is essential for early-career researcher success, and strong mentoring boosts research output, career satisfaction, and retention, along with fostering independence and career advancement. The series is designed to provide a mix of didactic lectures and group activities on the foundation of becoming an effective mentor using case studies and peer-peer mentoring pods. Trainees will learn evidence-based mentoring practices, what it means to be a good mentor, and what to look for in a strong mentor. The series is offered in the Fall to predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees.
