The ICTS is participating in a multi-site study of the impact of including community-based reviewers in the process for selecting Pilot Award recipients. The community-based reviewers pictured met at UCI for a 6-hour training to prepare them for their task of providing input on the applications submitted for 2020. Each application will be reviewed by two scientific and one community reviewer. All reviewers will complete surveys about the experience, so we can evaluate how, if at all, it influences the scoring process. We are very grateful to our community-based reviewers for engaging with us, and they seem excited to be part of the process.
