UCI MIND Seminar Series

Topic: Why you should care about the choroid plexus
Speaker: Edwin Monuki, MD, PhD
In this talk, Dr. Monuki will discuss common and highly prevalent pathologies of the choroid plexus that precede the earliest biomarkers and neuropathologies of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). These findings raise the possibility of causal roles for choroid plexus dysfunction in AD initiation. Note: this event will be held virtually via Zoom and In-Person in Herklotz Conference Room .

Community Lecture: Craig Walsh, PhD

Topic: The Impact of T Cells in Neurodegenerative Disease and Regenerative Therapies
Dr. Walsh’s research is focused on understanding the mechanisms that control adaptive immune tolerance to self. His lab is concerned primarily with T cells, and how these immune cells normally avoid reaction against self-tissues. They are curious about the interaction between T cells and neural stem cells, with an interest in developing approaches to treat autoimmune diseases of the brain such as multiple sclerosis.
You may attend this lecture online or in person at Gross Hall.
