UCI MIND Seminar Series: Lance Johnson, PhD Speaker: Lance Johnson, Ph.D. Dr. Johnson earned his Ph.D. under the eminent Professor Nobuyo Maeda and Nobel Laureate Oliver Smithies, studying apolipoprotein E’s (APOE) impact on atherosclerosis. In this seminar, Dr. Johnson will delve into the role of Apolipoprotein E (APOE) in late-onset Alzheimer’s disease (AD). He will focus on how the E4 allele increases AD risk while the E2 allele offers strong protection against AD. Dr. Johnson will further explore the potential of late-life ‘allelic switching’ from E4 to E2 to mitigate various neuropathological deficits linked to the risk allele, using a novel inducible mouse model. |

GIS Mapping with Tableau An in-person hands on workshop in which the participants will use Tableau Prep to map data points onto a GIS map visualization. Participants will be introduced to Tableau Prep, the freely available version of the Tableau reporting platform. Geospatial data will be explained and participants will learn about its format, where to download it, and how it can be used in Tableau Prep to create high quality maps suitable for publication. |
